The Installation Dinner 2024 – A Decade of Celebration and Fellowship

Last night, the Installation Dinner 2024 at Ironmongers’ Hall was a spectacular evening filled with camaraderie, laughter, and celebration. Marking ten years and one day since the Guild of Entrepreneurs’ foundation, this milestone event more than lived up to its promise. As my first Installation Dinner, I was thrilled to be part of such a memorable gathering of extraordinary people.

A Decade of Achievements

It was awe-inspiring to reflect on how far the Company of Entrepreneurs has come since its inception. From its humble beginnings with just 50 attendees at its founding dinner in 2014, the Company has grown to over 200 members, raised more than £300,000 for its Trust, and established the Entrepreneurs Award for Social Innovation (EASI), now entering its fourth year. The evening was a testament to the dedication and impact of this incredible organisation.

Welcoming the Eleventh Master

The night also marked the installation of James Talbot as the 11th Master Entrepreneur, along with his Wardens for the year: Alderman Alastair KingJat Wasu, and Rita W. Bologna. James shared his vision for the upcoming year, including the eagerly anticipated Spring Lunch and the Masters Weekend Away, while encouraging more entrepreneurs to join this vibrant and supportive community.

An Evening of Highlights

The dinner was brimming with unforgettable moments. Lord Julian Fellowes, the Oscar-winning actor, writer, and raconteur, captivated us with his tales from the film world, drawing laughter and applause from all corners of the room. Another highlight was the unveiling of six of the seven newly commissioned silver goblets, generously funded by the Company of Entrepreneurs Trust’s Patrons. These beautiful pieces were displayed during the reception, symbolising the generous spirit of the Company’s supporters.

In a poignant tribute, the Daniel Doherty Memorial Bell was rung in memory of Dan Doherty, the Company’s founder and inspiration, and Sir Paul Judge, its first Master. Their legacies continue to guide and inspire the Company’s work.

Distinguished Guests and Honoured Affiliates

The evening was enriched by the presence of several distinguished guests, including the Master Founder, the Master Marketor, the Master Needlemaker, and the Master Gardener. Representing the Company’s RAF affiliates were Gp Capt Delia Chadwick and Sqn Ldr Neil Thomas MBE, whose work continues to inspire respect and admiration.

A Night to Remember

The evening embodied everything that makes the Company of Entrepreneurs special: fellowship, celebration, and a commitment to making a difference. The combination of Ironmongers’ Hall’s historic elegance, the warmth of its attendees, and the night’s well-planned festivities created an atmosphere that was truly unmatched.

Looking Forward

As we move into this new chapter under James Talbot’s leadership, it’s exciting to imagine the opportunities ahead. If this was my first Installation Dinner, I can only say—I’m already looking forward to the next one!
